However, they will only replace it when it fails. I have only owned the car for 7 months, and is under warranty - the DMF is covered fortunately. My car has a failing Dual Mass Flywheel, and my mechanic has said it needs replacing badly (just had a full service). That is now two flywheels that have broken up causing untold damage to the clutch, bearings etc - cost £1000 a time! Have replaced with a kit and a standard flywheel now.

These useless contraptions should be taken out of these cars immediately. Dual Mass Flywheel on the 1.9 diesel Octavia.
